I’m sure it all started long before the wildness of  the Old West, 1880s style, when James Garner showed us proof that it is vital to a thriving community to show support for local enterprise.  (Support Your Local Sheriff!  A wonderful movie!)
In Utah, we have a tremendous amount of local resources.  Sometimes we don’t understand the consequences that follow our shopping actions.  Huge, national stores have contracts with corporate farmers.  The giant stores don’t sell local produce, effectively squeezing the small, local farmers out of distribution points for their produce.
In an effort to support our local, organic farmers, Cali’s Natural Foods is proud to announce the beginning of a program designed to help sustain our local economy and stabilize the resources we have in our farmers.  Beginning today, May 19, 2010, Cali’s Natural Foods is bringing in raspberries (frozen) from Berry Master Kevin Cole, located near Willard Bay.  These raspberries are pesticide free, and while you are enjoying your local berries, 5% of all sales will go back to the farmer to help sustain their endeavors.
Come in today and show your support!   Ummmmm….raspberries!

Today is Thursday, and usually that means it’s Chick’un Day!

Made from scratch seitan, cut into lengths long enough to put on a skewer and bread, ready for those Tender Tigers you enjoy so much!

Brooke has the art down to a science.  Chick’un is an intense process and an entire morning every week is dedicated to making enough for chick’un needs at Sage’s Cafe and Vertical Diner with enough left over for you to buy from our freezer case to enjoy whenever the desire moves you.

Remember to bring your receipt from Sage’s Cafe or Vertical Diner to receive 10% off your purchases at Cali’s!
